{"id":1068,"date":"2013-11-03T10:14:47","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T23:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ntsblog.homedev.com.au\/?p=1068"},"modified":"2013-11-03T10:14:47","modified_gmt":"2013-11-02T23:14:47","slug":"ssrs-default-date-parameter-showing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ntsblog.homedev.com.au\/index.php\/2013\/11\/03\/ssrs-default-date-parameter-showing\/","title":{"rendered":"SSRS &#8211; Default Date Parameter not showing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"ntsbl-2533080000\" class=\"ntsbl-before-content ntsbl-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-6288941070289539\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px;\" \ndata-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6288941070289539\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"9356781486\"><\/ins> \n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div><h2>The Problem<\/h2>\n<p>I have an SSRS Report with a default date parameter.<br \/>\nThe default date parameter appears grayed out and does not allow me to enter the date<\/p>\n<h2>The problem in detail<\/h2>\n<p>In an SSRS report I  wanted to have a Default date parameter.<\/p>\n<p>The report had two parameters:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Person Id &#8211; Free Text Number field, Mandatory<\/li>\n<li>End Date &#8211; Date Field &#8211; default to Now<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The default value for the date parameter can be set by a default expression like:<br \/>\n=Today()<\/p>\n<p>When this report is opened the cursor is focused in the &#8220;Person ID&#8221; field, and the End Date is grayed out.<br \/>\nEnter a PersonId and either tab out of the field or click view report and the End date field will become available.<\/p>\n<h2>The solution<\/h2>\n<p>The problem can be resolved by changing the order of the parameters.<\/p>\n<p>By changing the order from:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Person ID<\/li>\n<li>End Date<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>to<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>End Date<\/li>\n<li>Person ID<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It appears that placing a text style parameter that requires user input prior to the default date field, stops the parameter execution and leaves the field grayed out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Problem I have an SSRS Report with a default date parameter.
